Uncle Patrick Passed Away

Uncle Patrick passed away and his services were on April 13th and 14th.

Daddy, Freedom, Glory and Joy before the  Rosary.

Daddy and Freedom before the Rosary.  My sweet neighbor across the street gave me this suit for Freedom over a year ago.  It has just been hanging in his closet since then.  When I heard that Uncle Patrick had passed, I wondered if the suit was the right size.  As you can see, it fit him perfectly.

Children, your Daddy spoke at the Rosary, but you might be too little to remember what he said.  I want you to remember what your daddy said.  He said when he was a boy he wondered what Patrick had done to deserve his limitation in life.  Patrick could not think right, see right nor hear right because his mother had German Measles when she was pregnant with him.  When your Daddy wondered what Patrick had done to deserve this, he realized that Patrick had not done anything to deserve that.  Your Daddy deserved that.  Your Daddy had not done anything to deserve his right thinking, right seeing and right hearing.  It was grace.  It was like the grace of Jesus on the cross - he had not done anything to deserve that good thing either.  Your Daddy also talked of unconditional acceptance - how rare it is, but how awesome it is.

This is what I remember most about what your daddy said.  You ask him if you want to know more.

Joy, Glory and Freedom before the Rosary.

Glory at Aunt Darlene's house.  She has a "clown room."  She and Grandma used to be clowns together!   She keeps toys and dress up clothes for children in her clown room.  The girls love love love going to her beautiful home.

Memaw and Freedom before the Mass.

Uncle Patrick collected plungers.  At the reception, his plunger collection was set out and everyone was welcomed to take one home.  Here, the kids are outside with their plungers stuck to a glass window making their Uncle CJ very nervous. ;)  He was certain those 3 plungers could probably pull the glass out and I agreed it might be possible and asked them to stop.

Jon took the kids out to look at a few things at Fort Sam Houston - it was raining.   Jon spent some of his childhood years in the big beautiful houses at Fort Sam.

  1. Uncle Patrick is a very handsome man...like his brother Jon. One day these brothers will be reunited and they will both think right, see right and hear right! Oh what a glorious day it will be! Thank you Jesus! And thank you Jon for allowing Jesus to speak through you!

  2. This anonymous comment blesses me beyond words.

How insightful it is...I found myself mourning my own spiritual blindness/deafness/wrong-thinking yet rejoicing with GREAT hope at that glorious day when we can be all be together seeing/hearing and thinking rightly.

This is a new hope that I have never yet verbalized and I feel it engrained into the very fibers of my being.
